Pengarah Urusannya, Habibul Ajmi Manggar, berkata peraduan menerusi kempen Bonanza OK kali ketiga itu yang diadakan sejak 2006, adalah bagi menghargai pelanggan produk berkenaan."Peraduan yang bermula 1 Mac hingga 15 Jun ini, turut menawarkan hadiah bulanan sampingan lain iaitu berupa enam televisyen LCD 32 inci jenama Sony, komputer riba HP (tiga unit), set teater Pioneer (tiga unit), loket emas (enam unit), telefon pintar HTC (tiga unit) dan hamper produk OK (400 unit). "Bagi pemenang kereta Proton Saga, peserta peraduan yang menyertakan cogan kata paling kreatif disamping testimoni akan layak memenanginya,'' katanya ketika ditemui di pejabatnya, dekat sini, semalam.

Habibul Ajmi berkata, bagi menyertai peraduan itu, setiap peserta boleh mendapatkan borang penyertaan di pusat belah Mydin, Tesco, kedai 7-Eleven, Caring Pharmacy dan Watsons, selain menerusi iklan disiarkan di akhbar Harian Metro.

I represent a group of "compers" from Emenang.com who shares a keen interest in joining contests of various kinds.Emenang is your one-stop site for all your contest needs and information. We have a dedicated forum whereby members and guests can share their thoughts and ideas on how to make this hobby into a life-fulfilling one while making friends from all over the country.But we do share a deep concern with certain contests that have mushroomed lately which requires one to submit the most entries in order to win the Grand Prize which may be in the form of cash, cars or holiday trips that easily be worth Rm30000 and above.Our concern lies with the fact that regular and loyal users wont be able to benefit from such a promotional gimmick as there are serious punters out there with deep pockets who will go the extra mile to buy unnecessarily just to win. Such tactics no doubt will boost the revenue of organisers but at whose expense? Not only will there be massive wastage but also inculcate an unhealthy trend of producing future gamblers who will fork out lots of money hoping to out-bid and out-spend their opponents. In many cases as shared by winners, their purchases are beyond normal and were meant solely to win the contest.I am sure there are many ways to boost sales and organisers need not resort to such gimmicks. A contest should be one that involves skills and not only meant for the rich and those who can take high risk.Therefore, on behalf of all true compers, we at Emenang hope that we can collectively send out this message to all contest organisers and remind them of their social responsibility and a timely reminder to all users not to support such contests or their services and goods.

There are few ways to appraoch this matter. I remember a few years back during the SMS craze, a fren of mine spent rm30k to try and win a car worth Rm150k. Well, technically he would hv won but of cos the organiser had different ideas. Eventually my fren brought the case to consumer tribunal and he lost his case. That time reporters were there and becos of this brouhaha, some quarters came up with the idea to ban SMS contest altogether esp JAKIM and muftis n imams gvng their consent. Well that was quite a bit of publicity and to the danger of SMS contests esp those that requires u to gamble away ur wealth to win something in return.Today we find this similar concept hidden in these few contests we see yearly, MOST entries. What i suggested earlier was to hit those contestants back where it hurts the most but we too must fork out our fair share of risk. Some ppl may not like it.So what we can do is to flood the papers with our "concerns" and if possible find the relevant Ministry to highlight this. Better still write to JAKIM or CAP (consumer assc) and enlighten them of this "gambling" past time available in Msia and am sure many Muslims are dabbling in it without knowing. Next, you can write to the various organisers (these r big corporations) and tell them your concerns and remind them of their social responsibilities which is not just confined to making huge profits. Tell them bluntly, how do u expect a regular user to win a grd prize eventhough he/she uses twice as much as per normal when u hv gamblers out there?The more we educate the ppl out there that it wont pay or reward u handsomely even though u increase the usage by 5 times as per normal and then u will see such contests will rcv lukewarm responses and org will hv to rethink their promo plans.
