On Father of the Pride, there was an episode that centered on Siegfried, Roy, and 7-Eleven. The description of the relevant part of the show is as follows: In their quest to experience the "ah" they observed in a recent 7-Eleven TV commercial, Siegfried and Roy venture to the local convenience store to claim the ultimate prize -- "The Big Gulp." I don't have the complete script for this episode; but if I do get one, I will post the relevant quotes.

In I Am Sam, there is are several parts in the movie where the girl walks by a 7-Eleven on her way to her father's apartment at night. I have been told by a very reliable source that many chinese soap opera's have 7-Elevens in them.
In the Sabrina, the Teenage Witch episode Mrs. Kraft, there are numerous references to brainfreeze. In the opening scene, Harvey and Sabrina walk up to the front of the house, both with a very distinct large blue [1L?] Slurpee cup (you can even see 'Slurpee' on the sides of the cup!) They don't actually refer to them as Slurpees, but rather as 'slushies'. Sabrina even comments to Harvey something along the lines of, "You spend too much time at frozenslushie.com!'
On That 70's Show, there is an episode (I cannot find the script, and I am unsure of what the official title of the episode was) where there are several references to Slurpees and the 'Slurpee slut' who sells them. It guest starred Seth Greene. Donna mistakenly thinks that Eric had something going on with this girl when they were broken up, but later finds out otherwise.

Slurpee
First time Slurpee drinker? New to the experience? Need a Refresher? Here is where you go to learn it all!
Lesson 1: What is a Slurpee?
One of the most important things that you must know about Slurpees is that you can ONLY get them at 7-ELEVEN! Frosters and slushees are NOT Slurpees, and you cannot get a Slurpee from Macs or any other place.
Do not call anything that is not a Slurpee a Slurpee, because doing so is an insult to me, to the Slurpee, and all Slurpee addicts.
Lesson 2: Picking the size
Ready for your [first] Slurpee? Alright, then let's go!
Enter a 7-Eleven store, and head towards the Slurpee machines. There are different sizes of cups: 12oz (US), 16oz (Canada), 28oz (Canada), 40 oz (canada), and 44oz (US).All are good.
Pick the size cup you want. If it's your first time, perhaps get the smallest size.
Ready to pour? Not yet!
Lesson 3: Consistency
Look at the taps. What does the Slurpee inside looks like as the machine mixes it? Does it look watery---can you see the white thingy turning inside? Is there colored water swishing around? If so do not take this flavour
Of the remaining flavours, pick the one you would like. Double check to see if it is watery.
Now, very carefully, open the tap slowly and only a little. Colored sugar water will come out. Wait until it slows or stops.
Lesson 4: Pouring
Now you are ready to pour.
Put your cup underneath and open the tap fully. Fill until the desired amount is obtained. Mix flavours if desired, but make sure to drain the taps before pouring.
If you do not know what a flavour tastes like, then put your finger below (not IN) the tap and open it a little bit, and taste what lands on your finger. If you like it, good. If not, don't take it.
Stop at the top, making sure not to spill. If you do spill, get a napkin and wipe off the cup and anywhere that got wet from Slurpee.
Lesson 5: Lids Are you going to put on a lid?
Here are the deciding factors:
a) Will you be driving crazy with your slurpee in the cup holder or between your legs, or riding your bike? Is it raining? Is it really windy? These may be indications that you should use a lid
b) What is the consistency of your Slurpee? Did it pile up like a soft-serve ice cream, or is it flat? If it is flat, then you can safely put a lid on if you are using the small size, which has a flat lid. If it's piled, and you don't require a lid, then don't put on one. If you still want one, then make sure that the Slurpee isn't higher than where the lid sits (this is true for both flat and dome lids). Lick or spoon off any excess Slurpee. Don't squish it out onto the counter.
c) Age. If you or the one you are helping is younger, especially if they are under 8, then you might be wise to put on a lid to make sure that if they drop their slurpee, it won't spill out everywhere.
d) With practice and experience, you can use dome lids to your advantage, especially if the consistency is not stackable. After filling your slurpee to the rim, put on the dome lid. DO NOT INSERT STRAW. Hold slurpee with the lid securely on top, right below the nozzle. Carefully start to pour the slurpee through the opening on the top of the lid. The nozzle sits perfectly in the hole, but you must make sure that air can escape out as you pour the Slurpee in. Stop as soon as the Slurpee fills the dome.
Lesson 6: Straws
Pick out a colour from the variety of straws on the counter. Slurpee straws are the ones that are thicker, colourful, and with the spoon at the tip.
Positioning your straw might be important to some people. Straws go on after the lid. If you have a lid, the straw will naturally go in the middle. If you have no lid, put it to the side because otherwise the straw will be pushed there anyways.
Don't use a fountain and a slurpee straw, because from experience I can tell you that in the end, the fountain straw will end up in your nose.
Lesson 7: Paying
Don't forget to pay for your Slurpee! Line up at the counter in a civilized manner; when it's your turn, place your Slurpee on the counter, and the clerk will likely scan it. The cost will depend on the size of the Slurpee you have. Hand the clerk your money, and wait for change, if applicable. Be polite to the clerk ringing in your purchase; a smile and/or a thank-you goes a long way, and can really make someone's day. Besides, they may just become a 7-Eleven friend that you come to know with frequent returns to the store, and that might equal an occasional free slurpee!
Lesson 8: Coming Back
So how was it? Will you be returning again for some more? Here are some things to consider now that you have the basics down:
The prime time of Slurpee consumption is 4-11PM. When it is hot out, it is even earlier. So, on hot days, it would be wise to go as early in the day as possible to get a Slurpee. Other wise the consistency will be bad.
The task of consistency identification takes a lot of practice and experience. Don't fret if you don't get it at first. Just take a little bit in your cup at a time to test, and see if its good. DO NOT pour a whole bunch and then dump it. That's wasteful and not nice.
If the consistency is not good, then don't take too much. If all flavours are of bad consistency, then try a different 7-eleven, if possible.
One thing to take note of: you can refill collectible, Gulp, and reusable plastic Slurpee cups for a lower price than getting a new cup each time. You can save a lot of money by doing this, and it is also environmentally friendly. If you decide to use a Gulp or collector cup for your refills, label 'Refill' somewhere on the cup so that the person ringing in your purchase charges you the correct amount.

• Did you know that there was a Slurpee Record? It's true! It was a 45RPM 7" record sold over the counter at 7-Eleven stores as part of an early advertising campaign in 1965. On side 1 features a number of character voices(uncredited) providing testimonials regarding their "strange" experiences after having "slurped a Slurpee". Side 2 is the one and only original "Slurp" song. (Thanks to Martin for providing me with this information!)
• Competition for the Slurpee includes the Froster, Glacial Freeze, Icee's, Slush puppies, Squishies, Cold Sucks, and Thirst Busters.
• 7-Eleven uses different machines in different areas. In Canada, the main brand used is Taylor, while the US uses Cornelius and Pinnacle machines
• Is there a difference between American Slurpees and Canadian Slurpees? Yes! According to 7-Eleven: "the Canadian product is heavier and wetter, the difference being that the American product is injected with air and is therefore drier. This is why you can feel that itch in the back of the throat when you drink it--that's the air bubbles. The American stores have been using Cornelius equipment where as in Canada we have been using Taylor for years . Although both machines perform for their specific markets, they do create different products".

Once upon a time, there was a frozen beverage without a name. It just arrived at a 7-11 store and it was a big hit with the customers.
The cup was plain, and the drink was referred to as The New Frozen Drink .
One day the 7-11 clerk noticed that something wasn't right, but he couldn't quite figure it out. The consistency of this new drink was always runny, and nothing he tried worked too fix this consistency problem.
Suddenly, a little elf, named dammonth, appeared in front of him.
The elf cried, "can't you see? The drink is sad. Its endless tears makes it all runny!"
The clerk stepped back, surprised by this elf, rubbed his eyes, then asked, "what do you mean it's sad? Everyone loves it!"
"Can't you see? It has no real name. You must give it a name."
The clerk felt inspired, "That's it! I must this new drink a name! But what should it be?"
The clerk felt suddenly perplexed as he tried to come up with a good name, but nothing meaningful came up. He looked at the elf and asked, "what about Throat Cooler?"
The elf rolled his eyes, "NO! That's stupid. Try again!"
The clerk thought some more and again. "What about cold soda?"
The elf whacked the clerk on the head with a licorice and hissed, "NO! Something better. You must give it a unique and creative name. Think of what it is and what it does."
The clerk sat back and started to observe as patrons purchased and drank this new drink.
And then he watched some more…
It was then that the clerk realized what the name should be.
"I've got it!" He cried to the elf," People slurp it, and then they have to go pee. Its name should be Slurp-pee!"

Slurpee Tips
• The famous 7-Eleven dome lids are great for those who are untrained at the art of stacking. Use them to your advantage for thinner consistencies that will not pile.
• Great at stacking? Don't let the lids limit how much you can pile on!
• Slurpees are great for soothing sore throats, except if it's syrupy.
• It's fun to put more than one straw into your Slurpee, especially if you combine the different colored straws, but also be careful. If you don't watch, one straw may go up your nose when you put another straw in your mouth!
• Fight cold with cold. A Slurpee in the dead of winter is never a bad idea.
• Some flavors just don't mix well together.... opinion varies from person to person upon which flavors don't mix well. You'll just have to experiment.
• Clear cups are fun, especially when you have a range of colors to layer. But be careful that you don't mix some colors too close together, because they may soon mix to create an unsitely color.
• ALWAYS check the consistency before you start pouring. Otherwise you may be disappointed and flustered when sticky and watery Slurpee spills into your cup and then onto you!
• Always check to make sure the flavor on the label is the same as the flavor in the tap. Otherwise you may have a surprise when you take a sip....
• Always let the melted Slurpee sitting at the base of the tap run out first, before you begin pouring. That way, you have less sugar water and more Slurpee
• Want the best consistencies? Go when the race to the machine is slow, like at odd hours of the night (although there is often a rush around midnight in the summer), before the school kids are out of school, in the middle of a winter ice storm, and in the morning if you know it's going to be a hot summer day (before everyone else realizes that, hey, it's hot out. That way you wont be disappointed with watery gook!)
• Always finish your Slurpee; Never waste a Slurpee
• Don't worry if you find that your poop turned green...it's probably from the blue Slurpee that you drank earlier
• Long line-up? Take your time and refill your Slurpee until there aren't so many people in line. (okay, that's cheating, but they don't care)
• Brain freeze can be a good thing; some people find that causing themselves to get it rids them of their headache!
• Standing in front of the 7-Eleven with a group of your friends does not make you cool!
• Playing sick is often an effective way to obtain free Slurpee from sympathetic friends and family. But don't cry "sore throat" too often, otherwise they may not believe you when you really are sick.
• Make sure that you don't drink a Slurpee before a three hour lab or a class that's longer than an hour, especially if you don't get a break in between. Chances are, the Slurpee will have made it to your bladder before you get to leave... and that's not a good thing!
• Refills! Refills! Refills! You can reuse Gulp or collectable Slurpee cups, as well as use the reusable plastic Slurpee cups often sold during the summer, and refill them at each visit. Refills cost less than buying a new cup each time, so you save money, AND it is environmentally friendly :)
• Did you put your Slurpee in the freezer for too long? You could just wait and thaw it out, or lick it like a popsicle, or you could: (according to my friend Brooke)
- Add vodka (best with a PEPSI or fruity-flavored Slurpee) and you will have the perfect margarita.
- Place your Slurpee into the refrigerator for up to one hour, and a desirable consistency may result
• Try this: Mix Slurpee and ice cream together.... yummy! Everyone has their preferences, but typically vanilla ice cream goes best will most flavours. You can mix the two together, or simply put one on top of the other. Soft serve ice cream works and tastes the best. Whatever way you do it, it's delicious, and you'll be screaming for more! [hence it's nickname, The Screamer] (Thanks to Pattie for reminding me of this wonderful creation)
• Have a craving? No Slurpee? There are different substitutes that can help ease the anxiety. For example, a popsicle might help, or freezing your favorite juice. It's not the same, but it helps. You can also try this recipe that was submitted to me:
A Home Made Coca-Cola Icee Recipe
Chill a 16 oz bottle of Coke
Decant four ozDiscard one oz
Add to decanted coke:- 2 T pasteurized egg whites- 2 T brown sugar- 1 T Certo Liquid Fruit Pectin
Return mixture to bottle and freeze for 2.5 to 3 hours.
Shake periodically and serve.
Vanilla ice cream has the same ingredients. The egg whites and Pectin make foam and smaller ice crystals. The sugar reduces the freezing temperature.(submitted by Dick Patten)
• Another solution for the cravings: the Slush Mug. This container allows you the ability to quickly freeze just about anything (i.e. Juice, Soda, etc) in a short amount of time to produce a slushy consistency. Though I have never used it myself, I have been told that it is an excellent way to make your own Slush at home if a Slurpee is unattainable. (Submitted by Donna)
• Slurpees last longer, are more enjoyable and perhaps even taste better when they are scooped! [just make sure that they don't melt on you!] (Suggested by Patrick)
• If you get a brainfreeze, put your tongue against the roof of your mouth. This usually works to get rid of it. (suggested by Renee)
• If you get the wrong mix of Pepsi Slurpee and Lemonade Slurpee, it'll taste like beer (which isn't a good thing). (Submitted by Ben)
• DO NOT have someone buy you a Slurpee after you have your tonsils removed; a sore throat and tonsillectomy are not the same... the combination is excruciatingly painful. (Submitted)
